Antonio Cromartie, HBO At Odds Over 'Hard Knocks'
Wednesday night's episode of Hard Knocks showed Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie having trouble remembering the names of his children. But now Cromartie is accusing HBO of re-shooting the scene to make him look bad, while HBO says Cromartie is lying.
Cromartie told the New York Post that the director shot him talking about his children once, then asked him to re-do it, speak slowly, and pause between names.
"Nah, I didn't have trouble," Cromartie said. "I mean, they asked me to pause. I had nailed it the one time before, but they had to redo it and they just told me to pause between each one of [the names]."
But Ray Stallone, a spokesman for HBO, told the Post otherwise.
"I spoke to the director and everyone involved, and this scene was done in one take," Stallone said. "The show is factual, it's real, and it's not manufactured."
Cromartie reportedly has eight children with at least six different women in five states and has at times fallen behind on child support. One would think Tony Dungy would have an even bigger problem with Cromartie's proclivity to procreate than with Rex Ryan's propensity for profanity.
But Cromartie insists that he was misrepresented on HBO.
"So it's not a point of me not knowing my kids' [names]," he said. "I know every single one of my kids. I know the age of every single one of my kids."
