Austria's Stefan Koubek (right) is back representing his country in the Davis Cup after a brief absence. The 33-year-old Koubek, who is ranked No. 141 in the world, is best known for choking his fellow countryman, Daniel Koellerer, during a match this spring.
Koubek was disqualified after the mid-match incident.
Koellerer, on the other hand, has been no saint in recent days. He has been put on two years' probation for listing tennis gambling odds and for placing gambling links on his website.
Earlier in the year, Koubek was missing from the Austrian Davis Cup team because he refused to be a substitute for Koellerer. The dispute with the national tennis federation seems to be in the past for Koubek, who withdrew from the team earlier this year and was missing from the country's roster for the first time in 12 years.
He is set to return for the World Group playoffs against Israel in September. Team captain Gilbert Schaller also included 15th-ranked Jurgen Melzer, Martin Fischer and Julian Knowle on the squad. The best-of-five matchup will run from Sept. 16-19.
