Louisville's first season in its new home is getting off on the wrong foot. Roburt Sallie, a Memphis graduate transfer, and Justin Coleman, the Cardinals top-rated recruit, will not play for Louisville due to academic issues, the school announced Friday morning.

Sallie, a 6-foot-5 small forward did not complete academic requirements to transfer as a graduate student on time. Sallie would have been eligible to play this season under and NCAA rule that allows players to transfer without sitting out a year, provided they have graduated from their undergraduate program and are seeking a post-graduate degree not offered at their original school.

"We are disappointed for both Roburt and our program that he could not meet our admission requirements in time", Louisville coach Rick Pitino said. "We wish him the best in finding an avenue to reach his goals."

Sallie spent the last two seasons at Memphis after playing in junior college his freshman year. He averaged 10.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists a game last season.

Sallie's ineligibility leaves the small forward position open, which is expected to be a competition between juniors Kyle Kuric and Jared Swopshire. However, neither is as strong an outside shooter as Sallie, who hit 41.7 percent of his 3-point shots last season.

Meanwhile, Justin Coleman, Scout.com's 40th-ranked player of the 2010 class, failed to meet the NCAA's freshman admission requirements, leaving the Cardinals with only Coleman's Huntington, W.V., prep teammate Gorgui Deng as a marquee recruit of the 2010 class.

The Cardinals went 20-13 last season, but lost in both the first round of the Big East tournament and the NCAA tournament.
