John Arum, the 49-year-old son of Top Rank Promotions CEO Bob Arum, has been reported missing, forcing his 78-year-old father to leave Tuesday's Los Angeles press conference, part of a three-city press tour touting the Nov. 13 WBC junior middleweight (154 pounds) title clash between WBO welterweight (147 pounds) champion Manny Pacquiao and ex-titlist Antonio Margarito.
The story was first reported by Lance Pugmire of the Los Angeles Times.
According to the Times, Arum was informed that his son went missing on Sunday while on a hiking expedition in the mountains near Seattle. Arum was planning to board a Tuesday afternoon flight to Seattle.
"They've got search parties looking for him right now," Arum told the Times.
The Pacquiao-Margarito press tour, to be run by Top Rank president Todd duBoef, Arum's stepson, will continue to New York on Wednesday and to Dallas on Thursday and Friday.
"We got a call today that he had gone hiking and is missing, so Bob told the staff this morning that he would leave the tour and take a flight to Seattle," Top Rank Promotions public relations director Lee Samuels told Dan Rafael of ESPN.com. "Bob and his wife, Lovee, have left the tour and proceeded to Seattle."
