Ater Majok's career at Connecticut is officially over.

The school sent out a release Wednesday that Majok, the heavily hyped 23-year-old rising sophomore, would not return, confirming multiple reports from late last week. No further details were given on his departure.

The 6-foot-11 center appeared in just 26 games a freshman and averaged a meager three rebounds per game, though he did manage 1.3 blocks per contest.

However, Majok's stat line pales in comparison to the hype that accompanied him to Connecticut and his long road from the Sudan to Egypt and then Australia before playing for the Huskies, which only happened following an NCAA inquiry into his high school education.

Majok, whose family fled the Sudan as refugees, enrolled at UConn in 2008, but was not cleared to play until the second semester this season. In his heavily anticipated debut, he scored one point.
