Brandon Spikes Loses Reebok Deal Over Chatroulette Sex Tape

(Sept. 2) -- College is a time for intellectual stimulation, personal development and actions that you might later regret. Unfortunately for New England Patriots second-round draft pick Brandon Spikes, one of those regrettable acts involved Chatroulette and a scantily clad woman, and may now cost him upwards of $60,000.

Spikes recently entered the gossip columns when an alleged sex tape of the former Florida Gators football standout surfaced on WorldStarHipHop via a recording on the random web-cam-based chat service Chatroulette. It just goes to show, you never know who you will come across on Chatroulette.

The seller first offered the video, at a price tag of $1,500, to sports blog Deadspin, which responded thus: "Brandon Spikes may have gone from being a standout at Florida to another cog in the well-oiled Belichick machine, but he's not nearly a big enough star for us to hand out a precious reward for a couple of Chatroulette sessions that may or may not be him."

According to the Boston Globe, as a result of the preseason scandal, athletic apparel manufacturer Reebok is now rescinding an offer worth $60,000 with bonus potential based on game performance. The development was first reported by the What Would Joe Namath Do sports blog, which speculated that Spikes will now find himself in Bill Belichik's "dog house."

Although the NFL is still investigating the matter, Spikes' agent Terry Watson confirmed the Reebok news.

"It was something that occurred before he became an NFL draftee and a New England Patriot. I think for anyone it would be an embarrassing situation," Watson told ESPN Boston. "Brandon has shown to many people the kind of person he is before and after being drafted in the second round. He's hoping to put this behind him and looks forward to having a great football season."
