Ken Pryor, the Oklahoma basketball player whose game-winning shot propelled Oklahoma over Texas and into the national championship game in 1947, died Tuesday at 85.

Pryor's basket, a 10-foot two-handed set shot which is featured in the Oklahoma media guide, lifted the Sooners past a Texas team that had earlier in the season beaten Oklahoma by 12 points. The Sooners lost to Bob Cousy and Holy Cross in the championship game, 58-47.

Pryor was named first team all-Big Six in 1944 before joining the U.S. Navy during World War II. He returned to play for Oklahoma from 1947-49 and was the team's third-leading scorer in both 1948 and 1949.
