(Sept. 3) -- If history has taught us anything, it is that a campaign jingle will make or break a candidate's shot at holding office.

Just ask Steve Carlson, the independent congressional candidate challenging long-term Democratic incumbent Rep. Betty McCollum and Republican Teresa Collett in Minnesota's 4th District. Carlson, running under the slogan "Minnesota Two Party System, Its Time Has Come and Gone," penned this original tune to help Minnesotans make an informed decision when they go to the polls.

While there are definitely a few questionable cuts in the film, Surge Desk digs the tonality and rhythm.

Carlson is running under the Independence Party, best known its affiliation with former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura.

To recap, here is where Carlson stands on the issues, according to his jingle:
  • On health care reform: "More harm than good."
  • On the free-market system: "Slippin' -- [but] American businesses will pull their weight".
  • On racial equality: "You know it seems right, red, brown, and yellow, black, tan, and white."
  • On bipartisanship civility: "Pro-bipartisanship."
  • On Arizona statute: Unconstitutional, "All people got to work"
  • On abortion: "Pro-life."
  • On freedom: "It's a good thing."
