When you attend a tennis match, especially a major, there are certain expectations. Civility and courteousness immediately come to mind, which means that there's minimal trash-talking. Notable exception: if you're sitting in the nose-bleeds at Arthur Ashe Stadium and are really into the Novak Djokovic and Philipp Petzschner match.

On Thursday, an older couple, apparently fed up with a nearby fan's incessant cursing, confronted the young man. And that resulted in more cursing, gesticulating and, eventually, a knockdown, drag-out brawl.

There are so many disturbing things about this video, not the least of which is watching an old-timer grapple with young guy before going over several rows of seats and appearing to hit his head.

Less disturbing but still troublesome: who curses at a tennis match? Particularly a match between a third-seeded Serbian and an unseeded German?

More via the New York Post:
The fisticuffs began just after 9 p.m., when a female fan complained to a man in his early 20s about his repeated use of the f-word during the first set, a source said.

"He said, 'You've got a problem? Go ahead and hit me,' and she slapped him across the face" the source said. ...

It's a hot night in New York. Things happen," a US Tennis Association spokesman said of the tussle, which resulted in no arrests. After winning in straight sets, Djokovic quipped that during the fight, "I hoped there was no Serbian up there." He added, "I hope the fans enjoyed the match and not the fight."
Just a hunch but I'm guessing the fight was more interesting.
