Joique Bell Among Buffalo Bills' Final Roster Cuts
Bell was one off 19 players cut today by the Bills in order to get down to the league-mandated 53 players on the roster, with strong safety Jon Corto being placed on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list and tight end Derek Schouman waived/injured. The full breakdown can be found on BuffaloBills.com as Tony Jones puts it all into perspective.
"Probably the toughest day of my year is today," said new Bills' Head Coach Chan Gailey. "Some of those guys got a chance, they really do, but it just wasn't the right time on our football team right now. I wish them the best, but we had to make decisions that were best for our team right now."
Bell was one of three running backs and three wide receivers let go, joining running backs Andre Anderson and Chad Simpson and wide receivers James Hardy, Chad Jackson and Naaman Roosevelt. Hardy was a second-round pick (41st overall) in 2008 who is trying to come back from a knee injury in Week 15 of his rookie season with the New York Jets and Jackson is a veteran receiver who had previous success with the New England Patriots and Tom Brady.
