For the first time in 34 years, Florida State played a game without Bobby Bowden manning the sidelines. Jimbo Fisher made his debut as Bowden's replacement and the results on Saturday were quite stellar, as the 'Noles thrashed Samford 59-6.

Heisman candidate Christian Ponder attempted just 14 passes in his one half of work, but made the most of his limited action. He completed 12 of those tosses for 158 yards and four touchdowns. He did throw an interception, though, putting a slight black mark on an otherwise sparkling day.

Sophomore running back Ty Jones also starred for the Seminoles, going for 108 yards and a touchdown on just eight carries.

Even the special teams got into the action for No. 20 Florida State, as Greg Reid took a punt 73 yards to paydirt in the second quarter.

Fisher and his Seminoles face a much tougher test next weekend, as they travel to Norman, Okla. to square off against the No. 7 Oklahoma Sooners.
