Croatia was the first team eliminated in the Round of 16.
Guard Marko Popovic of Croatia made two free throws with five seconds left to tie the game at 72-72, but Rasic was fouled by Davor Kus as he attempted a shot with a second left.
Rasic made one of two free throws, and Popovic's full-court shot fell short as time expired.
Rasic finished with 15 points for Serbia. Popovic led Croatia with 21 points.
Serbia, which finished first in Group A during pool play with a 4-1 record, outscoring the opposition, 465-356, will next play in the quarterfinals Wednesday against the winner of Saturday's later game between Greece and Spain.
