Terry Bradshaw made one thing for certain on Thursday when he spoke to reporters in his hometown of Shreveport, La.: the former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback is not a fan of Jets head coach Rex Ryan."You know what? I don't like guys like that, OK?" Bradshaw told television station KTBS.
Add Bradshaw to the list of former and current football stars that aren't fans of "Hard Knocks," the HBO series documenting the New York Jets at training camp. The former Hall of Fame quarterback and four-time Super Bowl champion has been using the preseason to prepare himself for his gig as an analyst on FOX NFL Sunday.
"He doesn't play, easy for him to shoot his mouth off," Bradshaw said. "He doesn't make a tackle, he doesn't run the ball, he doesn't make a catch or throw the ball."
Ryan, can be seen using his graphic coaching style on the show. He is often cussing at players and using unique coaching techniques.
"He's putting a lot of pressure on his young quarterback," Bradshaw said. "If they can't run the ball, they're going to have to throw it and they can't pass protect. He'll shut up real quick."
Ryan drew the ire of former Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy earlier in the summer. Dungy, who serves as a mentor to many NFL players who have had personal troubles or have been or are in danger with the law, let it be known he was not a fan of Ryan's profanity-laced tirades on "Hard Knocks" either.
As for Bradshaw, he didn't stop with Ryan. He chimed in on some other issues, too. When asked about Dolphins defensive end Kendall Langford losing a 2.5-carat diamond earring at practice, Bradshaw didn't mince words: "I hope they never find it -- $50,000? Go tell that to somebody that can't pay for his kid's education or can't get them into a hospital room and get them treated properly."
Bradshaw, who is known for being outspoken, has been a mainstay as an analyst and co-host on FOX NFL Sunday since 1994.
