Stacy Andrews Likely to Move Back to Tackle for Seahawks
The trade with the Philadelphia Eagles for Stacy Andrews adds one more body to the mix with Russell Okung, the presumed starter at left tackle before suffering an ankle injury, out for at least one game and probably for several.
Andrews was pretty much a bust with the Eagles, who asked him to play guard, then wound up having him start just twice in 10 games in 2009. He'd played tackle for two seasons with the Bengals, but had minimal NFL experience at guard when he signed a six-year, $38.9 million deal with Philadelphia just 18 months ago. Not surprisingly, he was then was asked to restructure that deal down.
The 6-foot-7, 342-pounder told the Philadelphia media that he believed he was getting better at the guard slot, but he also said he would never have signed with the Eagles had he known they intended to move him from tackle.
For the moment he probably will see some time at left tackle until Okung returns, then he might be able to compete for playing time at the right tackle position currently held by Sean Locklear.
