(Sept. 8) -- Feelings of euphoria and weightlessness are normal. Do not be alarmed.

Satisfying the suspense of Tuesday's interactive Google Doodle, Google revealed its latest advance in search capabilities, the lightning-fast Google Instant.

Gone are the days of wasted seconds pressing the "Return" button on your keyboard or painfully dragging the cursor to the "Search" button and clicking it with your mouse/trackpad. Google Instant literally displays dynamically updating search results as the user types in a query, automatically predicting what he or she is interested in finding. Type in "W" and Google will display the weather based on the location of the user's IP address, for example. The function also allows a "scroll to search function," in which the user can rapidly scroll through and scan the predicted results using the up and down buttons on the keyboard.

Developers released a short clip demonstrating the new Google search function in action:

Now here are the Web's instant reactions to Google Instant:

Compliments of Google testers:

Blogosphere:

"Google today announced 'Google Instant Search,' a new feature which allows users to do, I dunno, something? It's faster? Or it predicts what you're going to type? Maybe it reaches through the screen and gently caresses the back of your hand while saying, 'There, there, everything's going to be fine. Shhh, it's okay,' in quiet, soothing tones, because I could really use that right now. I have no idea!" -- The AWL

"Those who find Google's search engine to be impossibly slow will welcome Google Instant, an upgrade to the company's search results that it unveiled Wednesday." -- Claire Cain Miller, The New York Times' Bits Blog

"Consider the mystery behind yesterday's mysterious interactive logo revealed. Welcome to Google Instant, 'streaming' or 'real-time' search that automatically updates the list of search results and predicted search terms with each keystroke you type -- no need to hit a search button." -- Daily Intel

"Google Instant, giving you answers before you've finished answering your question." -- Rebecca Boyle, POPSCI
