With the Argonauts trailing, 34-16 in the fourth quarter, defensive end Ronald Flemons picked up a fumble at the 40-yard line and appeared to be headed into the end zone for an easy touchdown ... until he simply dropped the football at the one-yard line, fumbling it into the end zone where it was recovered by B.C.'s O'Neil Wilson.
Here's the video...
Naturally, it's been compared to Leon Lett's embarrassing fumble during Super Bowl XXVII, when Buffalo wide receiver Don Beebe hustled down the field to knock the ball out of Lett's hands as he prematurely celebrated a potential touchdown. Even though this play happened on a much smaller stage, it might be even more embarrassing since nobody actually forced the fumble (he just flat out dropped it). Also because Lett's fumble didn't have a negative impact on the Cowboys (they still won the game in a blowout) while a touchdown from Flemons could have put Toronto back into the game.
