Fireman Ed Charged With Assaulting Giants Fan

Apparently, the Jets' inability to stay out of trouble extends beyond the locker room and into the stands. "Fireman Ed" Anzalone, the unofficial mascot of the J-E-T-S, was charged with simple assault Wednesday because he had the temerity to put his hands on obnoxious Giants fan, Christopher Black.

Oh god, really? We're tying up the legal system for this? Yes. Yes we are. Via the Star-Ledger, Black's attorney explains:
"My client walked to the front of his section and stood next to Fireman Ed to start a 'Giants' chant while fireman Ed was doing his 'Jets' chant," Iler said. "Fireman Ed essentially turned and first shoved him down. And when Chris got back up, he started to chant 'Giants Giants Giants' again, (Ed) grabbed a helmet of some sort and shoved him down to the ground."
And here, "to the ground" means "not really to the ground, he just sorta lightly shoved him until my client returned to his seat unharmed." Also worth mentioning (as CBS's Facts and Rumors blog points out): Black was arrested shortly after this incident.

Of course he was.
