If you were taking the "wait and see" approach with Peyton Hillis, your time is up. By playing like a runaway freight train against the Ravens on Sunday, not only did Hillis leave a big dent in Jerome Harrison's remaining fantasy value, he made it clear he's worthy of every-week consideration on most rosters. Aside from the versatile Josh Cribbs and contributions from TE Ben Watson, it was simply the Peyton Hillis Show for the Browns in a narrow 24-17 loss to the Ravens.
With Harrison out of the picture due to injury, Hillis churned out 144 yards rushing and one touchdown on 22 carries, including a 48-yard romp late in the third quarter (note: Hillis is too huge to "scamper"). If that wasn't enough, he also impressed point-per-reception league owners with seven catches for 36 yards.
Not many of us ventured to advocate Hillis versus a stout Baltimore defense, but he proved us wrong and played as aggressive as his listed frame of 6-foot-2 and 250 pounds. When Harrison returns from his thigh injury, expect Hillis to take a hit in the carries department, though he'll still be more involved in red-zone situations as well as the passing game. With three TDs and 14 receptions over the Browns' first three contests, he's definitely been their most valuable back.
Hillis' ownership percentage in Fleaflicker leagues stands at 42, but you can bet it'll be nearly double that when waivers are processed. If you're the lucky holder of the No. 1 waiver spot in your league and Hillis is out there, burn it on the beast.
