High school girls sports usually don't get much recognition. Partly because the boys' games draw more interest, but also due to the misguided belief that, by comparison, female organized athletics are short on excitement. With Wilmington High School (OH) and Hillsboro tied at 3, and with 20 seconds to go in a match that took place last week, a Wilmington player was fouled some 40 yards from goal. I'll let you guess what happened next:
"IT'S IN! IT'S IN! WOOHOOO ... OH MY GOODNESS!"
That was Wilmington's Amina Affini with the goal, and it came with just under six seconds on the clock. Making this even more dramatic? Wilmington was down 3-1 at the half.
