Jeff Garcia: Eagles Rumors 'Just Talk'
After seeing the rumors on NBC's "Sunday Night Football" pregame show Garcia told FanHouse, via text message, "I really don't want to comment on anything right now because it's just talk. We'll see what transpires over the next couple of days."
NBC's "Sunday Night Football" pregame show stirred the Eagles quarterback pot by adding Garcia to the potential mix.
During Sunday's pregame show, Dan Patrick, the host of the show, said reports out of Philadelphia are that Garcia, now the quarterback of the UFL's Omaha Nighthawks, is rumored to be among the Eagles' wish list after starting quarterback Michael Vick left today's game against the Redskins in the second quarter with a rib and chest injury.
Mike Florio of NBC's profootballtalk.com tweeted that Garcia and Daunte Culpepper could get an early release from the UFL if an NFL team came calling. Florio also reported that Garcia's agent told him that his client is interested in returning to the NFL, specifically to the Eagles, his former team.
But the procedure would be difficult. Garcia would not be able to be let out of his contract, which expires in February, until after the UFL season ends at the end of November.
Garcia has been the face of the UFL this season. He has led the Nighthawks to two comeback wins, in as many games, in front of two sell-out crowds in Omaha.
