Pierre Thomas has been ruled inactive for the Saints in their Week 4 matchup with the Panthers. With Thomas out, expect Ladell Betts to get the start and rookie Chris Ivory to receive his share of carries as well. The Saints will likely try to take advantage of the Panthers' weakness in the secondary foremost, so neither replacement back is a slam-dunk choice, but I'd lean toward Betts over Ivory at RB2 especially in point-per-reception leagues. Ivory, being the bigger back, would probably get the goal-line work and is a Flex option for owners in a bind.
Thomas hurt his left ankle in the fourth quarter of the Saints' loss to the Falcons in Week 3. The Saints also signed DeShawn Wynn to bolster their running back depth since they'll be without both Thomas and Reggie Bush.
Another notable inactive for the Saints is kicker Garrett Hartley, who is being replaced by the recently signed John Carney. The move comes as no surprise as Hartley missed a 29-yard overtime field goal in a loss to Atlanta. If you've got Hartley, dump him ASAP. Kickers that lose their starting gigs should be nowhere near fantasy rosters... that is unless you play in some bizarro all-kicker league.
