LaceDarius Dunn suspended indefinitely following arrestLaceDarius Dunn has been suspended indefinitely from the Baylor basketball team following an arrest in Waco, Texas, the team announced via press release Tuesday. No further details were made available by the school.

According to the Waco Police Department, Dunn was arrested for aggravated assault after causing serious bodily injury to his girlfriend during a domestic dispute.

On September 27, police officers were called to Hillcrest Hospital to investigate an assault. The victim was Lacharlesia Edwards, 21, and she had a broken jaw. According to the police report, Dunn and Edwards had gotten into an argument, leading to Dunn punching her in the face.

The Associated Press, however, is reporting this may not have been what actually happened -- according to the alleged victim's father.

"Somebody down there is trying to make a story out of nothing," Charles Edwards told the AP.

"If something would have happened to my daughter, I would probably be in jail right now in Waco because I probably would have done something to that young man," he said. "In this case, she said they were playing, and that's it." (UPDATE: Edwards has also denied the allegations against Dunn.)

Dunn turned himself into police Tuesday.

"LaceDarius Dunn has been indefinitely suspended from all team activities," head coach Scott Drew said in a statement.

Dunn was one of the major cogs of Baylor's Elite Eight run last season in the NCAA tournament -- a run that ended when the Bears ran into eventual national champion Duke.

As a junior, the 6-foot-4 guard averaged 19.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game.

Dunn is one of the best players in the history of Baylor University, as he has amassed the fourth most points in school history and would have been very likely to become the school's all-time leader this season. In fact, Dunn is only 518 points away from becoming the most prolific scorer in the history of the Big 12.

Dunn was named a preseason first-team All-American by several outlets and was expected to compete for the Wooden Award in 2010-11.

A lengthy suspension, however, would obviously thwart any of these chances.

Baylor's statement was as follows:

"The University is working to gather all of the facts surrounding this incident, and is fully cooperating with investigating authorities. Baylor will have no further comment on the matter until more information is available."
