Grant Hill and Reggie Evans Ejected for Almost No Reason
When you combine Hill's reputation with the following video clip, the fact that he (along with Reggie Evans of the Toronto Raptors) was tossed from a preseason game for nothing more than slapping his opponent's backside makes you wonder if the referees aren't taking the recent crackdown on complaining a little too seriously, at least during the preseason.
Okay, so maybe there was a little something there.
The players were both a little heated on the previous possession, to the point where you can hear Hill drop a BS-bomb (if such a thing exists) on referee Bill Kennedy. This was enough to get him that first technical, and the slap on the rear -- the third of the exchange, to be precise -- was apparently enough to get him the second one.
Look, it's fine if the referees are trying to send a message during these exhibition games that the amount of nonsense they've tolerated in previous seasons simply won't fly this year. But if they follow through with it, and actually kick guys out of games that matter for stuff like this? It's going to provide even more fodder for fans, who already love to dissect the officiating in this league to an almost laughable, conspiratorial level.
