NFL Picks Week 5: End of the Line for League's Last Unbeaten

Week 5 NFL PredictionsThe only unbeaten team in the league goes on the road to play a 2-2 side that can't run the ball and is pretty bad defensively.

The unbeaten team is between an 7 1/2- and an 8 1/2-point underdog.

Yup, oddsmakers go on history, too, and Kansas City, at 3-0, doesn't have any recent history. But beyond that, the last time the Colts lost a division game, as they did to Jacksonville, they came home and pounded the Giants.

To be truthful, no one knows exactly what the Chiefs are, other than a young team that seems to be on the rise. Their best win was the opening-night victory over the Chargers at home before a pumped-up crowd in a refurbished stadium. Their other wins are over the Browns and 49ers, who are a combined 1-7.

The trend in the NFL is to bring everyone back to the middle -- 13 of the 28 teams that have played four games are 2-2.

So ..

Make the Colts 3-2 and the Chiefs 3-1.

Kansas City Chiefs 21

Minnesota (plus 4) at New York Jets (Monday night)

Three weeks ago Randy Moss made a one-handed touchdown grab of a long pass from Tom Brady against the Jets in the NMS (You know, "The New Meadowlands Stadium.'') This week, he'll be back as Brett Favre's new favorite friend.

The trade for Moss demonstrates how desperate the Vikings are. They may be more desperate after this game with the Cowboys, Packers and Patriots coming up in the next month. They also may be out of the race they are so desperate to get into.
