Broncos roDemaryius Thomas injuryokie wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, the team's top draft pick, was injured when he was hit hard during a second-quarter kickoff return in Sunday's game at Baltimore. Thomas fumbled on the play -- Baltimore recovered on Denver's 20, leading to a field goal.

Team officials said Thomas suffered head and neck injuries and would not return to action.

Thomas fielded the kick about 5 yards deep in the end zone and was running full speed at the Denver 16 when he took a jarring hit from the side by Baltimore's Jason Phillips. Thomas' head was whipped to one side and the ball came loose as he crumpled to the ground. Ken Hamlin recovered the fumble for Baltimore.

Thomas was down on the field for several minutes while being tended to by medical personnel. He was able to get to his feet and though somewhat wobbly, managed to head to the sideline under his own power.

Thomas had two catches for 12 yards before being forced out of the game.
