Brett Favre 500 TDsEAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- It took until nearly the end of the third quarter of their first game together, but when Brett Favre and Randy Moss hooked up for a 37-yard touchdown pass, the Vikings' 41-year-old quarterback reached an uncharted NFL milestone.

Favre is the first quarterback in NFL history to throw at least 500 touchdown passes. Earlier on the same drive, he became the first to amass 70,000 career passing yards.

For most of Monday night's game, it looked as if Favre might not reach either milestone. The Vikings were held to just 51 yards in the first half in a game the Jets led 12-0 before the touchdown catch. Favre looked lost in the early going, prompting speculation about whether off-field distractions were affecting his on-field performance. The NFL is investigating allegations that Favre sent inappropriate text messages to a former Jets employee during the year he spent as a member of the organization in 2008.

Favre later added career TD passes No. 501 and 502, hitting Percy Harvin twice for scores in the fourth quarter.
