Sometimes you come across something that defies explanation and I think this qualifies as one of those times. A half-century before the internet became a part of the daily experience, people got their news from more traditional sources: television, radio and newspapers. That was pretty much it.

It's one thing to learn that Brett Favre may or may not be involved in harassing former Jets employee Jenn Sterger with creepy voicemails and cell phone pics of his private parts. But nude photos of a man thought to be Mickey Mantle ending up on a prison website 15 years after he died? That's something else entirely.

Via the New York Post:
Mickey Mantle doesn't belong on HotPrisonPals.com, the Web site Sam Wagner founded featuring incarcerated criminals. But Wagner posted a black-and-white photo of a man he claims is Mantle - in the prime of his Hall of Fame career with the Yankees - standing in front of his locker fully, frontally naked. "It was sent to me by a photographer who is very famous and I doubt would send me something not authentic," Wagner told Page Six. "Mickey was such a big slugger. Damn."
Assuming it's true (and, really, who knows), the circumstances surrounding the alleged Mantle photo are much less incriminating than Favre's situation, which the NFL is currently investigating. Locker rooms are chocked full of nudity because, well, they're locker rooms. You know going in that there will be athletes in various states of undress. This is typically isn't something most of us think about when we turn on our cellphone.
