Fredi GonzalezBobby Cox spent the last 20 years as the manager of the Atlanta Braves before his career came to an end on Monday night, and it seems that the Braves barely needed 20 hours to name his replacement. According to a report by My Fox Atlanta, Fredi Gonzalez will be replacing Cox in the Braves dugout next season.

The official announcement will come on Thursday, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, a day after Cox's official farewell press conference.

Gonzalez being named as Cox's replacement isn't that big of a surprise to anybody, as he was long considered the favorite to succeed Cox before he even announced his retirement plans.

Gonzalez spent five seasons within the Braves organization -- one season as a minor-league manager and another four as third base coach -- before heading to Miami to take over as the manager of the Florida Marlins.

As manager of the Marlins, Gonzalez went 276-279 in four seasons before being fired this past June.
