Fantasy Football Week 6 Rankings: D/ST

With the better portion of the league's terrible offenses on byes -- namely Buffalo, Carolina and Arizona -- we'll all have to dig a little deeper for defensive team starts this week.

The Steelers lead the pack, and now top the league in points allowed at just 12.5 per game, facing off at home against a Browns team that will test drive Colt McCoy in his first NFL start. As much as I love McCoy, scoring defensive points off virgin quarterbacks is like stealing Yoplaits from the office refrigerator: mean, but easy.

Next up, the Chargers enter Week 6 with a choice matchup as they head to St. Louis against an offense that not only couldn't find the end zone against the Lions last week, but also lost their top receiving threat (again). San Diego ranks second in the league in yards allowed per game at an impressive 246, and their 18 sacks rank fourth in the league. This looks like prime pickings against a struggling Rams offense.

Our third-best start goes to Chicago, who has emerged as one of my personal go-to starters in recent weeks. They generally don't jump off the page at people, but the Bears have nice defensive stats across the board: 5th in points per game allowed, 6th in yards per game allowed, 5th in interceptions, and 4th in forced fumbles. Facing Seattle at home, they'll have to contend with "Beast Mode" (Marshawn Lynch), but this looks like a great matchup against the fifth-worst offense (277 ypg) in football.

• The spot start of the week goes to Minnesota. Similar to Baltimore, Minnesota owners have been getting fed up with the lack of fantasy output. Despite holding opposing offenses to low yardage production, the Vikings have just six sacks, two interceptions, three forced fumbles and zero touchdowns. This week against Dallas at home, I see them finally making a couple of big plays on the defensive end.

• If you still have it in for the Vikings or just don't want anything to do with Brett Favre's team, the Titans have a very promising matchup this week as well. They face Jacksonville, who is actually playing quite well lately, but the Titans defense is looking dominant. They currently lead the league in sacks with 22 and have nice turnover totals as well. I like the looks of this matchup for the Titans.

• Finally, one matchup that I plan to keep a close eye on this weekend will be the Jets versus the Broncos in Denver. Darrelle Revis thinks he should sit out with the Jets going into a bye week at 4-1 and his hamstring still sub-100 percent, so I think the Jets defense may actually get torched. This will be an interesting test to see just how good Kyle Orton and his passing game really is. My money's on the Broncos.
