BMX superstar and MTV personality T.J. Lavin is in a medically induced coma after crashing his bike at an event in Las Vegas on Thursday night, TMZ reports.Lavin lost control of his bike going over a dirt ramp in a Dew Tour event and then hit the ground hard on impact. Friends and event staff quickly rushed to his side but the TMZ report says he was not moving after the crash, was quickly taken to nearby University Medical Center hospital and placed in a medically induced coma.
TMZ was also reportedly told that he is experiencing brain swelling and is listed in critical condition.
Lavin has hosted ten seasons of MTV's "Real World/Road Rules Challenge," and also has a video game named after him, "MTV Sports: T J Lavin's Ultimate BMX."
