The United Football League has selected Omaha, Neb., as the host city for its 2010 Championship Game on Nov. 27, the league announced on Monday.

The city earned the game thanks to an outpouring of support for the first year Omaha Nighthawks, defined by on-field success and factors such as attendance, fan interaction and stadium atmosphere.

The Nighthawks (3-1) are tied for the best record in the UFL and have sold out both of their home games with crowds of more than 23,000. A UFL press release also cited the franchise's more than 15,000 followers on Facebook and Twitter as proof of a deserving fan base.

"In addition to the performances of head coach Jeff Jagodzinski's team on the field, we are rewarding the Omaha fans for their passion and phenomenal support of the Nighthawks by bringing the 2010 UFL Championship Game to their city," league commissioner Michael Huyghue said in the release.

"There were other teams who also deserved to host the game and we did not eliminate those other cities, we chose Omaha. We would have felt comfortable awarding the game to any of our cities."

The game will be played at Rosenblatt Stadium and will be broadcast on national T.V. on VERSUS at 12 p.m. ET. The league stated in its press release that the Championship Game is expected to generate an economic impact of approximately $5 million.

The Las Vegas Locomotives hosted and won the 2009 Championship Game at Sam Boyd Stadium in a 20-17 overtime win against the Florida Tuskers.
