One of the most noticeable heads of hair in the current NHL is no more as Flyers forward Scott Hartnell decided to chop off his flowing mane this week. He looks like a completely different person, as seen here in this picture from the Flyers official Twitter page.

Just for a comparison, here's what he looked like as recently as last season's Stanley Cup Final...

Egads, man.
Hartnell's hair was famous enough to have its own Facebook page, while it wasn't uncommon to see fans at the Wells Fargo Center donning Hartnell-inspired wigs. The team even had a Hartnell wig giveaway last season. And now? It's gone. According to Elliotte Friedman, via Twitter, it's Hartnell's first haircut in three years and he donated his hair to Locks of Love, "a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis."
That, of course, is a very nice gesture on Hartnell's part.
It's times like this where it's fun to look back at some of hockey's best looks, including, but not limited to...
Ron Duguay...

Guy Lafleur...

Jaromir Jagr...
