Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers received a huge break late in their Week 7 game versus the Dolphins, thanks to a controversial video review.
With Pittsburgh trailing Miami by two and less than three minutes left, Roethlisberger took off on a quarterback draw from the Miami 2. He was hit as he dove for the goal line and fumbled the ball into the end zone. The officials on the field initially ruled it a touchdown, but the play went to video review.
Replays showed the ball coming loose prior to Roethlisberger reaching the end zone, and appeared to also show the Dolphins recovering the fumble for a touchback. But referee Gene Steratore ruled, after a lengthy review, that while Roethlisberger had in fact fumbled, there was no clear evidence of who had recovered. Pittsburgh was given the ball back on the 1, then kicked a game-winning field goal on fourth-and-goal.
