San Francisco Giants reliever Brian Wilson is a bit of an odd duck. After he struck out Ryan Howard to send the Giants to the World Series Saturday night, Wilson was a popular target of microphones, as reporters sought him out for interviews and reaction to the Giants' first World Series trip in eight years.UPDATE: Getting to Know 'The Machine' and Brian Wilson's Personality
Wilson, as expected, was more than willing to oblige. With FOX, he talked on the field about how he hoped fans back home were having a wild time.
Then, in the locker room, Chris Rose asked him about how long he's dreamed of closing out a league championship for his team. After Wilson answered, the conversation shifted to a tweet by Rangers starter C.J. Wilson, which said "See your beard soon."
That's when Brian Wilson decided to mention "The Machine."
"I think The Machine will say all he needs to say when he makes an appearance again," Wilson said.
No one knows who or what "The Machine" is, but we may be about to find out. (Update: 'The Machine' is explained here.) Meanwhile, Brian Wilson and that unreal beard are heading to the World Series.
