They are the Iowa Energy, and you will fear them again, D-League. Months after securing the number one overall seed in the D-League playoffs with the best record after a phenomenal season before falling in the Semifinals, the Iowa Energy reloaded by selecting 24-year-old guard Chris Lofton out of Tennessee with the sixth overall pick. Lofton was, according to multiple sources of Scott Schroeder, the best shooter in this draft. He played last year in the ACB Spain league for CB Estudiantes. He shot 34% from the arc last year, but historically has been a terrific shooter. Lofton was the 2007 SEC Player of the Year at Tennessee and shot 38% from the arc his senior season at UT, where he set the SEC record for 3-pointers. If this isn't clear to you, the dude can fill it up. Oh, yeah, and he did this.
Lofton joins Curtis Stinson, Kyle Weaver, Courtney Sims, Othyus Jeffers, and Connor Atchley on what looks to be the early favorite for either most call-ups or the D-League championship, depending on how things go. With speed, athleticism, size, and now a shooter, the Energy look primed to once again contend in the D-League. Head coach Nick Nurse is likely a pretty happy man right now.
