Springfield Armor Select Vernon Goodridge Fifth in D-League Draft

The Armor were the worst team in the NBA D-League last season. They hope their fifth overall selection of Golden State Warriors camp invitee Vernon Goodridge out of LaSalle, a 26-year-old 6-foot-9 power forward, will help give them what they're looking for to rebuild. The cupboard's pretty bare for Springfield going into the season, but perhaps Goodridge will begin a streak of rebuilding for the team.

In case you haven't noticed a pattern, there's an abject Black-Friday-like run on bigs early in the draft because there are always guards with talent available in the D-League throughout the year and almost no post players. So what happens is when an NBA club sends a player down on assignment who's some sort of raw beast (like say, Hasheem Thabeet), they dominate. So this run on power forwards and centers is largely dependent on trying to avoid getting stomped on like rebels beneath AT-ATs.

And yes, he's got his own mixtape. Who doesn't?
