Roddy White of Falcons Eager to Test Buccaneers' Ballhawks
"They jump routes, they're aggressive," White said. "They're ball-hawking corners, Ronde's (Barber) been doing a good job. They're taking chances."
White smiles wide. He has seen aggressive corners before in the NFL.
"You like those guys, you always get chances to throw the ball over their heads," White said, speaking generally about aggressive defensive backs. "You anticipate."
Specifically, White has noticed Aqib Talib, the Tampa corner, and his aggressive play. The 24-year old Bucs' corner has five interceptions this season. He has also been burned for at least four touchdowns.
" We'll have some stuff in the playbook, especially for him, so we can get the ball down the field and over his head," White said. "Hopefully we hit 'em. If we hit 'em we won't have any problems the rest of the game."
Asked if he could get matched up with Talib, White said he doubts it because the Bucs did not match Talib up with the Cardinals Larry Fitzgerald last week. White would prefer playing the aggressive corner who can make the receiver look bad.
"I'd rather go against Talib anyway than the guy who watches film and is very crafty and knows if the inside receiver goes to the flat, he's going to jump this route," White said.
Not that White thinks this game is going to be all about the pass game. The Falcons average 137.5 yards per game rushing, which is fifth in the NFL. The Bucs give up 149.4 yards per game, which is 30th.
"They are small guys, fast guys on defense, we just have to be able to get Mike (Turner) going and get the safety down in the box," White said. "If we get our run game going and get those guys tired because they are smaller bodies ... just wear on those guys and grind them out."
