LeBron James brought half the haters back into his corner with his recent "What Should I Do?" Nike ad, designed to not just mock Charles Barkley and Michael Jordan, but to point out that LeBron isn't going to be what every individual person wants LeBron to be. The online and media chattering around the ad was palpable for a few days but died down as everyone decided "Huh, LeBron is kind of smart." Thankfully, "South Park" didn't forget, and in the new episode that aired Wednesday ("Mysterion Rises"), they did a full-on spoof of James' spot.
There's the use of a fake Tony Heyward apologizing (the comparison of LeBron to the BP CEO isn't friendly, but it's damn funny). There's Captain Hindsight (he has perfect 20/20 vision ... after the fact) the superhero who files around and tells everyone what they did wrong after they did it.
And then there's Cartman, dressed up as "The Coon," deciding he'd rather keep being a selfish jerk" (and play on the team with the dark lord Cthulhu) instead of admitting that he was wrong, telling everyone he was sorry and going back to his old team (the original Coon and Friends).
So, yeah, I hope Trey Parker and Matt Stone weren't planning on going to any South Beach parties any time soon.
