Calvin Borel, Javier Castellano in Breeders' Cup Fight
Castellano, riding Prince Will I Am, was disqualified from second place for coming off the rail and cutting into the path of other horses on the final turns. Jockey Martine Garcia flew out of the saddle while riding Romp and somehow regained his seat.
Borel, riding A.U. Miner, took exception to also being jostled and confronted Castellano after the race. Borel, who is the top jockey at Churchill Downs and has multiple Kentucky Derby wins, was furious and had to be separated from Castellano by security and Breeders' Cup officials.
The race was won by Eldaafer.
Borel has built a legacy for himself in the sport, winning the 2007, 2009 and 2010 Kentucky Derbys. On Friday, he added to the legacy, in quite a different way.
"I had so much horse. I had pressure outside me," Castellano said. "I went for a hole and (the stewards) said I took (Borel's) lane (on A.U. Miner). I don't know. I don't know."
