New England's Myron Pryor has been slapped with a $7,500 fine, according to multiple reports, for his Week 8 hit on Brett Favre, which opened a gash on Favre's chin and knocked the Vikings QB from the game. Pryor drilled Favre as he released a pass midway through the fourth quarter of the Patriots' 28-18 win. As Favre completed his follow-through, Pryor hit him hard and drove him to the turf -- at some point during the tackle, Pryor's helmet made contact with Favre's chin, causing a cut that required eight to 10 stitches to close. A woozy Favre was helped from the field after the play, then taken to Minnesota's locker room on a cart. He did not return to the game.
Pryor was not penalized on the play.
Fellow Patriot Gary Guyton also earned a $7,500 fine from the league for a hit on Favre earlier in the game.
Favre is expected to play Sunday when the Vikings host Arizona.
