Hornets Beat Bucks, Start 6-0
And here the Hornets are, believe it or not, on top of the NBA standings with a 6-0 record after knocking back the Milwaukee Bucks Saturday night 87-81. New Orleans beat Milwaukee in its season opener, too, giving the Hornets a season sweep over last season's Eastern Conference No. 6 seed. Of New Orleans' six wins, five have come against teams that made the 2009-10 playoffs; the other win came over the Houston Rockets, the league's best non-playoff team last year. This hasn't been a cupcake schedule.
Paul has been dominant this season, but didn't dominate the Bucks, with 14 points and six assists. Defense won the game for New Orleans, with Milwaukee shooting just 39 percent from the floor. The rest of November is just as daunting as the early stretch has been for the Hornets. After hosting the Clippers Tuesday, New Orleans plays the Blazers and then has a home-and-home with the Mavericks. Both teams consider themselves contenders to the three-time conference champion Lakers (also 6-0 as of Saturday night). Who knew the Hornets would be in the mix too?
