When Lou Dobbs abruptly resigned from CNN in November 2009, media pundits speculated that the outspoken anchor, who hosted shows on the network for more than 20 years, had his eye on the presidency. But it seems Dobbs is moving in another direction: Fox Business Network announced today that it has picked up Dobbs for a new television show scheduled to premier early next year.
"Dobbs will instantly become one of the biggest names on Fox Business," the Los Angeles Times said.
In addition to hosting his own show on the 3-year-old cable network, which now reaches 57 million homes, Dobbs is also expected to continue his gig as host of the nationally syndicated radio program "The Lou Dobbs Show," which kept him busy this year as he planned for his future after CNN.
With luck, Dobbs will take the opportunity to recapture some of the glory he lost when he resigned from CNN, and was promptly lampooned in The Onion headline "U.S. Deports Lou Dobbs" the day after leaving his previous post.
