Dan Persa, Northwestern quarterback, left Saturday's game with Iowa after throwing the game-winning touchdown pass with 1:22 remaining. Northwestern officials notified the press that Persa ruptured his Achilles tendon is lost for the season and will have surgery Saturday night. This marks the second year in a row that a starting quarterback suffered a serious injury in the Iowa-Northwestern game. Last year in Iowa City Hawkeye quarterback Ricky Stanzi injured his knee. Stanzi missed Iowa's last two regular-season games but recovered in time to play in Iowa's Orange Bowl victory over Georgia Tech.
