How Close Is Prince Harry to the Altar? Not Very

(Nov. 16) -- Poor Prince Harry. The wild and younger son of Prince Charles and Princess Diana has long lived in his big brother's shadow. William was the heir. Harry was the spare. William was the responsible one. Harry was the one who, well, seemed to continually mess up.

To great fanfare, royal officials announced today that William, 28, would marry longtime girlfriend Kate Middleton in 2011. But Harry appears to be nowhere near the altar, and his latest girlfriend is reportedly Norwegian rock singer Camilla Romestrand, a self-described "dirty girl" who told AOL's PopEater that the third in line to the throne "serves me tea in bed."

Prince Harry's reputation has improved since serving with British forces in Afghanistan, and he has been praised for his handling of public engagements.

Harry, 26, has also been linked to British television presenter Caroline Flack, who called the copper-haired prince "Jam" because "he's got jam-colored hair and he's sweet," The Sun, a British tabloid, reported.

For several years, Harry had an on-again, off-again relationship with blond Zimbabwean Chelsy Davy. The pair -- like William and Kate -- were hounded by the paparazzi. Davy even moved to England, studying law at the University of Leeds, to be closer to her prince.

But the pair broke up in June after she allegedly told him to choose her or his military career, the tabloids reported. Another factor in the breakup was said to be Davy's desire to return to Africa. In September, Britain's Daily Mail ran a photo of a bleary-eyed Harry leaving a London club at 5 a.m.

Harry has had a long history of unflattering pics -- most notably an image of him in 2005 at a costume party wearing a Nazi uniform, holding a drink and a cigarette.

But the prince's reputation improved greatly when he served for more than two months with British forces in Afghanistan. He had to be pulled from the war zone in early 2008 due to security concerns, but he has publicly stated that he wants to return to action. He is currently training to be an army helicopter pilot.

Harry has also won praise -- and comparisons to his mother, the late Prince Diana -- for his handling of public engagements, including a tour of Africa this summer with older brother William. Harry is co-founder, with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho, of Sentebale, a charity that helps children orphaned by AIDS in the southern African nation.

Finally, the tables are turning on the royal brothers when it comes to the handsome factor. As a youth, Prince William was a teen heartthrob adored by girls everywhere while Harry was the awkward redhead. Now, unkind observers point out that William looks less like the beautiful Diana and more like his Windsor forebears, and the royal pate is rapidly balding. Harry, on the other hand, has grown into his looks and has a strong resemblance to his mother's family, the Spencers.
