Two Arrests Made in Southern Mississippi Football Shooting

Police have arrested two people and are looking for a third in the case of the shooting of Martez Smith, Tim Green and Deddrick Jones, three University of Southern Mississippi football players.

Patricia Loftin Brown and Cleothus Wilkerson have been charged with three counts of accessory after the fact of aggravated assault. An arrest warrant has been issued for Travis Brown on three counts of aggravated assault. Brown and Wilkerson were arrested Monday night.

The three players are still hospitalized and in fair condition. On Monday, USM president Martha Saunders addressed the students and faculty in an e-mail, saying, "The injuries of Martez and Tim Green are significant. We are doing all we can to support these students and their families. ... The Hattiesburg Police Department is leading the investigation into the shooting and is being assisted by our University Police Department, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and a task force from the U.S. Marshals Service."
