NFL Picks Week 11: Raiders, Steelers Renew 'Immaculate' Rivalry

Now that the Raiders are back in play as a contender, we can re-create all the moments that has Al Davis waxing nostalgic:

"Pride and Poise.''

"Commitment to Excellence.''

"Immaculate Reception.''

Don't think Al wants to think about that last one. But we can as Oakland goes to Pittsburgh Sunday for the latest installment in a series that, close to 40 years ago, was one of the best in the NFL. Hey, the Raiders played the Chiefs before their bye and now get the Steelers. Good old days are here again.

Well, not so good if you consider that Oakland is a seven-point underdog -- although that means little, other than that people still think of the Raiders as a bad team and the Steelers as a good one.

Truthfully? In this year when everyone is leaning toward the middle, so are these two. Maybe it will help Pittsburgh, which has played badly two weeks in a row, that it cut kicker Jeff Reed (who has added kicking woes to his tackling woes) and signed Shaun Suisham.

In any event, seven points is probably too much. Let's just say it's 7-6 Raiders late and Ben throws deep, the ball bounces off Isaac Redman and Michael Huff to Mewelde Moore, playing the role of Franco Harris.

Raiders at Steelers

Team Point Spread Projected Score
Oakland Raiders 7
Pittsburgh Steelers - 7 13

This one has a history, too -- this will be the 11th meeting in eight seasons, a bundle for teams that aren't in the same division any longer. And like Pittsburgh-Oakland, there's history, like Bill Belichick going for it on fourth down to keep Peyton off the field last season. Didn't work, and the Pats lost for the fourth time in the last five meetings.

Not this time with most of Peyton's weapons injured.

Colts at Patriots

Team Point Spread Projected Score
Indianapolis Colts 21
New England Patriots - 3 27
Once again, a team -- this time, the Eagles -- gets two primetime games in a row. Can Michael Vick do what he did to the Redskins against the Giants? Probably not, because the Giants use three safeties and one will spy him. But New York is banged up and DeSean Jackson has a history of making big plays against New York.

Giants at Eagles (Sunday night)

Team Point Spread Projected Score
New York Giants 27
Philadelphia Eagles - 3 1/2 31
Two teams without quarterbacks for the Thursday night audience, a large portion of which will probably hit the mute button. OK, Jay Cutler did pretty well last week, but he's always a risk.

Bears at Dolphins (Thursday)

Team Point Spread Projected Score
Chicago Bears 13
Miami Dolphins - 1 16
Have these two started playing every other week? Like the Raiders and Chiefs used to?

Packers vs. Vikings

Team Point Spread Projected Score
Green Bay Packers - 3 15
Minnesota Vikings 18

Broncos at Chargers (Monday)

Team Point Spread Projected Score
Denver Broncos · 30
San Diego Chargers - 10 42

Texans at Jets

Team Point Spread Projected Score
Houston Texans 10
New York Jets - 7 34

Ravens at Panthers

Team Point Spread Projected Score
Baltimore Ravens - 10 22
Carolina Panthers 2

Redskins at Titans

Team Point Spread Projected Score
Washington Redskins 16
Tennessee Titans - 7 28

Lions at Cowboys

Team Point Spread Projected Score
Detroit Lions 20
Dallas Cowboys - 6 1/2 39

Bills at Bengals

Team Point Spread Projected Score
Buffalo Bills 13
Cincinnati Bengals - 5 1/2 16 (OT)

Browns at Jaguars

Team Point Spread Projected Score
Cleveland Browns 17
Jacksonville Jaguars - 1 22

Cardinals at Chiefs

Team Point Spread Projected Score
Arizona Cardinals 9
Kansas City Chiefs - 8 27

Team Point Spread Projected Score

San Francisco 49ers - 3 21
