Currently out promoting his new memoir, "Decision Points," former President George W. Bush has forgone Twitter as a means of promoting his book.
While Bush has sold more than 1.1 million copies of his remembrances of his time in the White House, he has done so without the advertising power of the microblogging site.
In fact, since joining Twitter back on June 2, Bush has fired up only three tweets. His first message announced his arrival to social networking.

But his second tweet showed that -- in theory, anyway -- Bush (or whoever was tweeting on his behalf) understood that Twitter was a good place to hawk books.

Since June, the former president has left one last tweet for his 13,444 followers, which read, "Since leaving office, President Bush has remained active. He has visited 20 states and 8 countries."
A more compelling use of Twitter might have been to respond to the latest dust-up between Sarah Palin and Bush's mother, Barbara, but, of course, everyone must Twitter the way he or she sees fit.
Interestingly, Bush chose just five feeds to follow in his brief foray onto Twitter: his wife, the Republican GOP, Barack Obama, John McCain and Palin.
Palin, whose every tweet seems to result in its own mini-news cycle, knows full well that the Twitter microphone is a great way to get one's message to the masses. Today, for instance, she was busy promoting her reality television show, "Sarah Palin's Alaska."

Without a new book to promote, however, President Obama's Twitter czar is busy touting White House policies and asking his nearly 6 million followers for tips on how to make sure Obama gets re-elected.
