(Nov. 24) -- Steven Slater, the JetBlue flight attendant who slid down an emergency chute at New York's JFK airport to get away from a rude passenger, is offering some Thanksgiving travel tips to passengers who want to avoid similar situations.

Slater and JetBlue have since parted ways, and the former flight attendant has written an article about "jet-setter etiquette" for OutTraveler.com, a gay travel site.

His tips include:

Don't stampede: "Stylish travelers wait until their row is called instead of rushing the gate like the stage at a Motley Crue concert."

Be polite: "Say hello to the flight attendants. It's amazing how many people will stare suspiciously at us before storming down the aisle in response to our smile and 'Welcome aboard.'"

Listen up: "When we present safety instructions, set down the magazine. When we ask that electronic items be turned off, it's because they can interfere with communication and navigation equipment, and we want to ensure we land in Miami, not Minneapolis."
