The 76ers fell apart in the second half against the Wizards on Tuesday, with John Wall (zero points in the first half, 25 in the second) doing most of the damage. Philadelphia had a 14-point lead with nine minutes left in the fourth quarter. But Washington marched back to send the game to overtime, where the Wizards came out ahead 116-114.
Frustration set in for the Sixers well before overtime, as evidenced by Elton Brand's hard, dumb flagrant foul on JaVale McGee with a few minutes left in regulation. Brand smacked the Wizard in the chest with two hands as McGee went up for a wide-open dunk after a pinpoint Wall pass.
As you can see in the video clip below, official Tony Brothers wasted no time in booting Brand from the game ... and McGee had a little goodbye for his attacker.
That McGee was able to complete the dunk is something amazing, and speaks to Vale's epic length.
Update: The NBA enacted swift judgment, suspending Brand for one game without pay on Wednesday. Brand will serve his suspension tonight when the 76ers face the Toronto Raptors.
