(Dec. 3) -- This could be a slightly different kind of oil spill.

The U.S. Coast Guard reports that the Golden Seas, a cargo ship carrying canola oil, is adrift in Alaska's Bering Sea and could run aground, the Anchorage Daily News said.

Unfortunately, edible canola oil is not the only thing being transported in the 738-foot ship's hull. The vessel is also said to be carrying diesel fuel (a rather unappetizing thought).

En route to try to rescue the foundering ship are two Coast Guard helicopters, a C130 plane and the Coast Guard cutter Alex Haley.

Twenty members of the crew are still on board the Golden Seas, which is drifting amid 29-foot waves about 60 nautical miles from Dutch Harbor, a location familiar to anyone who has watched the popular crab-fishing reality TV show "Deadliest Catch." The show frequently captures footage of the industry's ships battling heavy seas and gives an idea about what the crew of the Golden Seas may be up against.
